ZOKU
Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Organisation and context
Zoku Amsterdam brings together extended-stay hospitality, community, coworking and food and beverage within one integrated concept. The assignment began when Ingmar stepped into the General Manager role at very short notice. Both Operational Leads then left within the first month, creating an immediate need for visible day-to-day direction, the rebuilding of the operational leadership team and a controlled transition towards the arrival of a new General Manager.
The assignment required a rapid understanding of the operation, direct support for the teams and stronger structures that would remain useful beyond the interim period. At the same time, two new Operational Leads had to be recruited, appointed, onboarded and prepared to work with the incoming General Manager.
Additional responsibilities
Recruiting, selecting, appointing and onboarding two new Operational Leads
Rebuilding the operational leadership team following the departure of both predecessors
Transferring the renewed leadership structure and two newly appointed Operational Leads to the incoming General Manager
Additional results
Maintained operational leadership continuity while three key positions changed within a short period
Appointed, onboarded and positioned two new Operational Leads for the next phase
Created a more stable leadership team and delivered a structured handover
Closing perspective
The Zoku case demonstrates how interim leadership adds value when several key positions change almost simultaneously. By staying close to the operation, appointing and onboarding two new Operational Leads, and introducing greater management discipline, the assignment created a more stable leadership team that could be transferred with confidence to the incoming General Manager.
